Tradesperson’s Tools Deduction
The Tradesperson’s Tools Deduction is an Annual tax deduction of up to $500 to help tradespersons cover the costs of new tools necessary for their trade. See the trades section of the Canada Revenue Agency website for details.

Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit
The Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit is a non-refundable tax credit for employers that is equal to 10% of the eligible salaries and wages payable to eligible apprentices. Maximum credit is $2,000 for each eligible apprentice. See the Canada Revenue Agency website for details.

The Canada Apprentice Loan
The Canada Apprentice Loan provides up to $4,000 per period of technical training to apprentices in Red Seal trades to help them complete their training.

Application deadline: Apprentices can apply up to 2 days before they complete their technical training. Visit the Canada Apprentice Loan Online Service for more details and to apply online.

The Canada Apprentice Loan is not offered in Quebec. Please contact Quebec for alternative support measures available to you.

Apprenticeship Incentive Grant
The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant is a taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year or level, up to a maximum amount of $2,000 per person.
The grant is for registered apprentices who successfully complete the first or second year/level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program for a designated Red Seal trade.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant
The Apprenticeship Completion Grant is a taxable cash grant of $2,000 per person. The grant is for registered apprentices who successfully complete their apprenticeship training and obtain journeyperson certification in a designated Red Seal trade.

Employment Insurance
Apprentices may also be eligible for Employment Insurance during periods of in-school apprenticeship training.
